If you want to take good care of your feet and prevent problems, you should choose shoes that protect your feet.

One basic rule is that new shoes should fit immediately and not need to be worn in.

By following these steps, you are well on your way to finding the right shoes:

Choose toe boxes that are as wide and high as possible in order to avoid pressure on the top of your toes.

If you have hammertoes or claw toes, it is very important that your shoes do not press down.

Pressure on the toes can also cause corns and sores.

Make sure your shoes are long enough to keep your toes from rubbing against the edge when walking.

You will always slide a little forward in your shoes.

The inner dimensions of the shoe should be approximately 8-10 mm longer than your foot.

Then there is room for the movement of your foot.

Measure the shoe length to your longest toe.

If your second toe is the longest toe, then this is the one that will determine the length, not your big toe.

If possible, choose a lightweight, pliable and non-slip sole.

Make sure the shoe has a firm counter.

It supports the heel and guides the foot during walking.

Choose a low-height heel and good cushioning.

This will allow you to walk naturally.

Be sure to purchase shoes that allow you to adjust the opening with laces, Velcro or an ankle strap.

This allows you to resize throughout the day if your feet swell.

Wear shoes with a small opening so that they are firmly attached to the foot.

Buy shoes in natural materials like leather, hide and cotton.

This reduces damp and hot feet and therefore the risk of fungus.

Choose different shoes for work, parties and leisure.

Buy shoes later in the day.

Feet always swell slightly throughout the day.

You can find out whether your shoes are wide and long enough by drawing a template from your feet and putting it into your shoes.
